He was born on 27th Fabruary 1902 in Ružomberok.

Fulla studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague. During his studies in Prague, he formed a close friendship with Mikuláš Galanda. They jointly published Private Letters, the first and only manifesto of Modernism in Slovakia.
Fulla was major modern Slovak artist and formulated three basic principles of his painting: the geometric abstraction of form, the fantastical composition and the role of colour.
His pictures became an independent composition of planar linear and colour elements which the artist used to create "its new emotive reality". The line became the basis of a constructive, rational composition of the picture.
