Bobo
The Bobo people (number about 110 000 people)
live in Burkina Faso and Mali. They speak a Mandé language.
The Bobo are farmers, are politically non-centralized.
The Bobo use several words for "mask" (kore, sowiyera). They produce masks in leaves, fibers, wood, cloth.
The Bobo use masks in some major contexts: masks appear at harvest time in annual rites, participate in the male initiation, which is their major function and participate in funerals.
